Working Power
Ephesians 3:20
Now to Him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think – according to the power that works in you –
When I’ve heard messages preached on this verse and even when I’ve studied it on my own, the emphasis is usually on “Him who is able to do above and beyond…” While I certainly agree that God is able to do much more than we can imagine, the second part of this verse is key to activating the first. The power that works in us must first be working, or God won’t do anything. Just what does, “according to the power that works in you,” mean for us?
Philippians 2:12 instructs us to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. We have to work out what God has placed in us. Knowing His word does us no good if we don’t put it into practice. As James tells us, “Faith without works is dead.” At some point, we must begin to walk forth in faith and do what His word says in order for His power to be at work in us. As we do what His word says, we will see God’s power working above and beyond what we ask or think as His will is revealed in our life.
Ask God to show you how to walk forth in faith with the truth He is showing you today. As you do, His power will begin to work in you. Don’t let His power go stagnate in your life any longer. Take a step of faith, and be amazed at where it takes you.
Have a blessed day!
