Our Great Helper

Psalm 118:5-6

I called to the LORD in distress; the LORD answered me and put me in a spacious place. The LORD is for me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? With the LORD for me as my helper, I will look in triumph on those who hate me.

What a word of hope for the discouraged in this passage!  I’m so very thankful that God hears us when we call and that He is always for us and not against us. The enemy is called the accuser of the brethren because he continuously accuses us and tries to pronounce judgment upon us. God, however, is for us and is always working as our helper. Even when things don’t seem to go our way, He is working on a better plan for us. Hallelujah!

The word, “distress,” indicates a place of constraint, restriction, or lack of room to move. In other words, you feel stuck. You can’t go back, but you can’t move forward, either. The enemy threatens attack, and the best thing you can do is to cry out to God. When you do, He hears. He is always on your side, and He is working everything out for your good and His glory!

If you feel stuck today, know for certain that God is on your side. He has not abandoned you, and He has brought you too far to let you go. He has invested in you, and He will put you in a spacious place where you can move, grow, flourish, and be productive. Don’t be afraid or discouraged. God will cause you to triumph over your enemies. Jesus died so you could be victorious and overcome. The same resurrection power that raised Him from the dead now lives in you. When you can’t go backward or forward, get ready to move up! God is your helper, and He is for you!

Have a blessed day!
