Defend Your Land

1 Kings 20: 1-4

Now Ben-hadad king of Aram assembled his entire army. Thirty-two kings, along with horses and chariotry, were with him. He marched up, besieged Samaria, and fought against it. He sent messengers into the city to Ahab king of Israel and said to him, “This is what Ben-hadad says: ‘Your silver and your gold are mine! And your best wives and children are mine as well!'” Then the king of Israel answered, “Just as you say, my lord king: I am yours, along with all that I have.”

This passage reveals how truly weak Ahab was as a man and a king. Instead of fighting to protect all that should have been precious to him, he was willing to give up the very best of the land upon attack. Ben-hadad saw that Ahab would not put up a fight, so he then decided to take everything.

When the enemy attacks you, how easily do you surrender? Hear me now: the Devil wants everything you hold dear, including your family, and he will take everything of value from you if you do not put up a fight! You have to defend your land, or it won’t be your land anymore!

Our weapons of warfare are outlined in Ephesians 6, but they are used through prayer. In prayer we seek God’s guidance and ask for His divine intervention. In prayer we declare His promises from His word to strike the enemy. In prayer we proclaim our faith and resist the Devil. In prayer we take every thought captive and align it with the word of God. In prayer we surrender to God what only He can do, and in prayer we gain our victory over the enemy.

When we don’t see an immediate answer to prayer, however, we can easily become discouraged. Giving up, however, is never the answer. We must continue to pray until we have the victory. Just because we don’t see anything happening doesn’t mean God isn’t working. In fact, He often conceals His best work from us and allows us to see it after He has finished. Unless God has given us an absolute, “No,” we are to continue to pray and trust Him to do what only He can do. If the Devil can convince us to give up the battle in prayer, he gains victory over us. Be diligent in your praying, and never surrender your God-given land to enemy defeat!

Thankfully, Ahab is not our defender. We belong to Christ, and Romans 8:34 tells us He is seated at the right hand of the Father making intercession for us. Jesus prays for us continually! He doesn’t give up on us; let us not give up on Him. Get on your knees, and defend your land! God will give you the victory because no weapon formed against you shall prosper, according to Isaiah 54:17. Be a prayer warrior, and watch God give you the victory!

Have a blessed day!
