2025 Scholarship Banquet
PHOEBE Connections, Inc., a widows’ ministry based in Wilson County, held its annual scholarship banquet Thursday, May 22, at First Baptist Church in Lebanon. The group awarded 22 $2,000 scholarships this year to children of widows in Wilson County, with 14 students present. Deacons of First Baptist Church, Lebanon, acted as servers, and their wives helped with meal preparation.
Danny Hill, former principal of Southside Elementary and Middle School, gave an excellent and inspiring presentation of finding purpose in life. The PHOEBE Connections Board of Directors presented each student with a devotional book entitled, Catching Whimsy, by acclaimed Christian author, Bob Goff. Students also honored their mothers with roses for their love and support as they continue their journey to further their education.
PHOEBE Connections, Inc. raises money annually through a fundraiser to provide scholarships for children of widows in Wilson County. “PHOEBE and the Doo Wops” will be held September 25 at 6:00 pm at the Farm Bureau Expo Center. The Doo Wops will perform during a catered dinner, with a live cake auction and silent cake auction to follow. Tables of 8 will be available soon for $175.
