Praise Him

Psalm 135:3

Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; sing praise to His name, for it is delightful.

None of us like being around people who continually take from us but never give anything in return. Such people are a drain. Although I know God loves me with an undying love, I can’t help but wonder if I don’t drain Him at times with my constant requests. The very least we can do for Him is to praise Him for the good things He has done for us.

The truth of the matter is that God is always good to us, even if we have a hard time seeing the good in it at first. I’ve often wondered why God hasn’t answered certain prayers the way I wanted, only to find out later that His denial was a hedge of protection around me. Every good and perfect gift comes from Him, and He is not trying to punish you by denying you anything. He wants the very best for you, and He is working all things together for your good. We live in a fallen world where bad things will happen, but God can turn even the bad things into something good. For this alone, we have reason to praise Him because He is our hope.

Stop looking at your disappointments as set-backs or disapproval from God. Begin to see them as stepping stones to the good thing He has planned for you. Place your hope in Him, and delight in a personal relationship with Him where you turn to Him every single day. From this comes a river of life that can change anything and everything. So, take time to praise God today because in Him we have hope for better things tomorrow, regardless of what the evening news may say. Praise Him because He is worthy to be praised, and you belong to Him.
