How to Receive Power
Acts 1:8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
We have no power to spread the gospel or to be His witnesses on our own. We receive the power when the Holy Spirit comes upon us. That power is the anointing of God to do what He has called us to do.
The Holy Spirit must ignite what God has placed in us. Until that happens, we are simply able bodies with much potential and no power to move. God ignites our spirits with His Holy Spirit to move in power. While the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in us when we receive Christ as Savior, this is not the same thing as the anointing, which is God’s presence. God has promised to be with us always through the Holy Spirit inside of us, but He must ignite us with power to move out and minister.
The sad truth is that we can grieve the Holy Spirit within us to the point where His presence is not evident. Acts 4:29-32 reveals things what will grieve the Holy Spirit. When we let go of these things – anger, strife, bitterness, unwholesome talk – we allow God’s presence and anointing to line up with His Spirit inside of us and make us powerful in ministry. We line our feet up with His fire.
God wants to anoint each of us to move in power. Let us line our feet up with His fire today and rid ourselves of anything that hinders us in our walk. God has invested much in us, and He wants to use us for the advancement of His kingdom. He has already done so much for us and in us. Let’s allow Him to operate through us.
Have a blessed day!
