Written Just for You

John 20:31

But these are written so that you may believe Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and by believing you may have life in His name.

This one verse describes the whole purpose of the Bible. It was written so that we might believe Jesus is the Son of God and that we may have life in Him. The whole reason God sent His word was to reveal Jesus to us. The greater revelation we have of Jesus, the greater life we have in Him.

We were not created to merely survive in life. We were created to thrive. Jesus is our Creator, and in Him we are able to truly live, move, and have our being. His desire is to awaken us to Him so that His glory might be revealed in us.

The Bible foretells the coming of Christ in the Old Testament. It reveals God’s law and shows us how we cannot measure up to its standards on our own. We need a sacrifice for our sins. The New Testament reveals the first coming of Jesus – His miracles, life, teachings, death, burial, and resurrection. It also describes the formation of the church and instructions on growing in the knowledge of Christ. It closes with the promise of His second coming. All these things were written so that we might believe Jesus is the Messiah, and the entire book points to Him. The Bible is powerful, sharper than any two edged sword, able to divide the very soul, spirit, joints, and marrow. It has the power to judge the ideas and thoughts of the heart, according to Hebrews 4:12. The Bible has the power to change a life from a mode of mere survival to that which thrives, engages, and truly lives.

If you are tired of merely surviving and ready to start living, open your Bible today. Believe in Jesus, God’s Son, and know that He died so that you might live for Him. You were created for more than the mundane. You were created to live a life of great purpose. Find your life in a greater revelation of Jesus Christ. All these books were written just for you.

Have a blessed day!
