Power and a Rich Inheritance

Ephesians 1:18-19

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened as you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the glorious riches of His inheritance among the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of His power to us who believe, according to the working of His vast strength.

Paul prayed that the Ephesians would come to see their place as co-heirs with Christ. God gave Jesus a double portion inheritance as the first born Son of God. Since God owns it all and is very rich, that double portion inheritance is more than our minds can fathom. We are, however, joint hers with Christ and partake of that same unfathomable inheritance. Paul wanted the Ephesians to begin to see themselves as rich in inheritance and begin to find hope in the calling God had placed on their lives.

As Christians, I’m concerned we sit back and worry about little things that really don’t amount to anything in the great scheme of our calling in Christ Jesus. If we look only at our lack and void, we will never see the wealth of our inheritance and the many things God can do in us, through us, and for us by the power of His Holy Spirit. We limit ourselves by concentrating on what we don’t have and how to get it, and we never use the things we do have that carry the power to overcome what we don’t.

Paul wanted the Ephesians to see the riches of their inheritance in Christ. I want to fully see my inheritance in Christ, and I believe you do, too. We have hope in the calling He has placed upon us, and we have power available to us if we will only believe.

My prayer today is that God would begin to enlighten our eyes to that great calling He has on us and begin to fill our hearts with hope. May He make us full with the joy of His inheritance so we may see and appreciate the abilities we have and use them for His glory. May He begin to work in us according to the immeasurable greatness of His power and the working of His vast strength.

Our greatest changes needed may not be in our circumstances but in the direction in which we are headed. A new view could do us all some good!

Have a blessed day!
