Hidden By God
Isaiah 49:2
He made my words like a sharp sword; He hid me in the shadow of His hand. He made me like a sharpened arrow; He hid me in His quiver.
In this verse Isaiah is explaining to Israel his mission from God as a prophet. He recognized that God hid him for a special purpose, and he was very valuable in God’s hand as a sharpened arrow to attack the enemy. God hid him as a weapon.
Isaiah’s own words about himself seem somewhat different as we read verse 4:
“But I myself said: I have labored in vain. I have spent my strength for nothing and futility; yet my vindication is with the LORD, and my reward is with my God.”
While God was hiding Isaiah in His hand, Isaiah felt like a failure, accomplishing nothing.
Understand that before God releases you to act upon the purpose for which He created you, He may very well keep you in hiding until your appointed time. Like Isaiah, you must remember that your reward is with God. Any success you receive will come from His hand. Isaiah was an arrow, made to be sharp. God would be the one to send the arrow where it should go. The arrow itself does not hit the target; the one who shoots it does. God has fashioned you for some specific purpose, and He will place you exactly where you need to be to accomplish it.
Today, if you feel like a failure, realize that you are a well-hidden vessel in God’s hand. Allow Him to sharpen you and fashion you for His glory. He is working everything out according to His timetable, and He has not forgotten you. He has hidden you in His quiver so the enemy will not steal you. At just the right time, He will hit His target with you. A tool in God’s hand is of great value. You may be surprised at just how He will use you when your time has fully come.
Have a blessed day!
